Pack Creek Ranch, just off La Sal Mountain Loop Road, is part and parcel of the Old West with a history as a working ranch dating from the late 19th century. Legend has it the creek was named when a couple of prospectors shed their packs while being chased by Indians. Today, Pack Creek Ranch retains its whip-sawed look. We offer guests a relaxed and congenial atmosphere, comfortable accommodations, plus the opportunity for a unique Western experience.

You'll find a warm welcome at Pack Creek Ranch, a guest ranch in the finest western tradition. Cradled in the foothills of the LaSal Mountains, the ranch affords a cool retreat from the summer's heat while offering superb views of southeastern Utah's high desert. Sunsets may appear as if brushed from an artist's pallet.

Pack Creek Ranch has been a favorite retreat for such notables as author Edward Abbey, environmentalist Katie Lee and actor Robert Duval to name a few. The Ranch features 10 fully renovated individual cabins. Most have rock fireplaces and full kitchens. You won't find televisions or telephones in our cabins - Your peace of mind is our first concern. Don't worry about the unwanted knock at your door concerning housekeeping. We don't provide daily housekeeping; however, just fill out the request form in your cabin for any needs you may have and leave it at the office and our staff will tend to it.

We would love to help you set up your vacation itinerary. Arches and Canyonlands National Parks are only a short drive away. White-water rafting on the Colorado River, hiking, biking, jeep tours, cross country skiing--- all are within easy reach using Pack Creek Ranch as your year-round base of operation.

We're just 15 miles southeast of Moab - an easy drive over paved roads. Our 300 acre spread is in the foothills of the La Sal Mountains, a locale favored by moderate summertime temperatures, while offering superb views of mountain and desert alike.

"Our children have been used to large towns and city vacations. This has set an expectation in their minds about what "fun" is. If they are not buying something or surrounded by pre-packaged stimuli, they feel lost. We wanted this trip to be presented to them in its natural state and allow them to discover it on their own. Thankfully, their eyes have opened to the beauty and interconnected brilliance of the land, sky and life surrounding your wonderful spot in the West. The last few days they have asked all the questions I had hoped for about why it is all here, where it is going, and what it all might mean. Of course, I do not have the answers, but the cool westerly winds have blown back some of the fog to bring us wonderful memories of discovery and contentment."
